Dear Pastry: Seven days before Christmas

Picture of Savannah Cheesecake Cookies Recipe

(Today is December 18th, 2012)

I remembered to write my blog~ Yeay for me!! (I’m so spacing out..I went to bed at 3 am and woke up 4 hours later..) Don’t ever do something like that like I did..Staying up all night preparing for finals and working on a presentation which I did present today…I was so nervous and I could have done better and I just couldn’t..I have stage fright and it just freaks me out.. It’s really stupid and I with I could just talk naturally in front of others. Well enough about that.

Well today I don’t really have to talk about me…wait..I’m not here to talk about me..(just ignore me..) Anyway well today I’m with cheesecake. I chose cheesecake as today’s pastry because it’s something that reminds me of my mom. She really loves cheese and cheesecake. I personally, never really liked the texture of cheesecake but after eating those really good cheesecake I grew to like them more and more. And since my mom’s birthday is Christmas Eve, I’m planning to make this for her instead of buying a cake. I never will know why she like it so much but I think it’s same as me liking chocolate and her having the liking of cheesecake.

Every time I think of a cheesecake or look at them, it always reminds me of my mom and her smiling. So when I make this for her I hope to see her smile again like that time. It’s just really nice that a food like this would remind you of someone that you can see that food is not all about making and eating. It’s about sharing and enjoying the times together as families and friends and that these food can actually remind you someone you really care about. And I like that a lot. That there’s a meaning of why I’m making them.

So enjoy with one another. And share your joy of creating happiness. with food.

Dear Pastry: Rainy to Sunny

Ever since yesterday it has been so gloomy and rainy and I though everyone at my school looked so tired..And me too… Since it was so gloomy outside I wanted something sweet to lift the clouds away and fill it up with sunny and happy mood. So I got a Hershey kisses chocolate and it was great~

The chocolate melted in my mouth and I could taste the chocolate covered white chocolate with swirls was slowly lifting the cloud away from me and bringing back the sun. But I guess one kisses didn’t seem to work;  by the time I was in a good mood, I had 10 kisses…(don’t do that..it’s a bad choice) And I started to get worn out(?) I was hyper-ish from eating so much chocolate but it was wearing off pretty fast than I though it would. And when I got home, I got out milk and chocolate syrup and mixed those two and heated them up. It warmed up my body and the sweetness of the mixture of milk and chocolate is always a “sweet” combination.

Oh and if you want to add a little more sweetness to it, just put in those fluffy marshmallows or whip cream><

Dear Pastry: Autumn has come

Image

It has been few days since autumn has started and yet it feels like yesterday was summer and being lazy and goofing around. The month of fall; September is passing and soon October will come. And in pastry, the autumn sweets are to come and to be filled with smiles and laughter.

And I just thought of the perfect dessert for the autumn days. The first time I tried apple crisp it was still hot coming right out of the oven. Once I scooped it out, the steam rose up to my face and I could smell autumn from it and as it went inside my mouth, I still remember the taste of warm cinnamon and sugar covered apple around my tongue. I could feel the autumn wind and smell the autumn leaves too. Also it was crispy on the top later from oatmeal and the dough baked together; it was such a good combination.

P.S- Don’t forget whip cream or scoop of ice cream on top^^ Oh~ one more you can top it with caramel sauce ( personally never tried but it sounds great).

Dear Pastry: The start of something new

Life isn’t simple but sweet like Pastry. Everything always has that one part that’s bitter or sweet. And the life of pastry is very sweet which has been filled with joy. The enjoyment of making and cooking pastry is just fun to do. And those sugary and creamy flavor that excites the tasting bud and wanting to have more and more is the definition of sweet in pastry and baking. And by putting in 1 cup of sweetness, 1/2 cup of mixtures of ingredients and the rest come from you~ And that attitude can change everything from start to beginning. And to the start of putting it inside the oven to bake and till the end when everyone tries your sweet- it’s just wonderful and feels amazing when you see others enjoying what you have enjoyed making.
