Dear Pastry: Eight Days before Christmas

“Basic Butter Cookie”

(today is December 17th, 2012)

After posting my 9th days before Christmas I ended up doing something else and I almost forgot today’s post. Since I’m still a student, I realized that I don’t really have that much time to post these but I’m trying hard to post these every single day and not get behind on this~ When I’m writing this, it feels like I’m writing a diary but a public diary I suppose. But it’s takes my random thoughts away every time I write and post each blog. And I really enjoy this. (maybe?) Well that’s it for me~~

For our eight days before Christmas special, it’s a simple “Basic Butter Cookie” (doesn’t it sound simple but good?) I picked this recipe because I personally think, it would be sweet but soft at the same time and a good dessert with a cup of tea~ I just love sweets; well they are my favorites~ I absolutely love them and enjoy them very much. Anyway it’s mostly because when I was little, I tried one the butter cookie and I fell in love with them. Even though I was young at that time, I could still remember those swirls of butter flavor inside my mouth and always wanted to make these, too.

I’m not sure yet if I could still taste that rich butter flavor when I was young but it’s worth a try. Even for these cookies they have their own histories and they are sometimes a symbol in our life. And for me, this butter cookie is part of my childhood memory and it’s nice to remember something from your childhood. And to share it with others like I’m sharing my stories and my experiences here. And I hope you to have something to share.

For some people making something or cooking for is something you have to do. But to me, I love making foods and desserts for others. Me looking at others eating and them telling me how good it is and that I should make more, I want to make more and it just brings joy to me. When I’m making something, I think of others eating my food happily and with an smile paste to their face ^^ That just makes my day:)

So share with one another.

Dear Pastry: Ten days before Christmas

Picture of Gingerbread Cookies for the Holidays Recipe

(Today is December 15,2012)

WOah~! It’s already ten days before Christmas and that means it’s almost finals for me..(I think finals are just awful and they just should not exist in this world..And since we have them there shouldn’t be so many tests and those really stupid quiz we all took sometime in our life.) And anyway back to the topic.. other than my crap and the stressful side of me; I’m really happy that it’s almost..(drum roll please) CHRISTMAS~!! I just LOVE CHRISTMAS:) And today I brought more cookie recipe for this little event of mine should I say~ And it’s just fun and nothing more though. I’m just happy that it’s almost break and I wish I could just skip over finals and I would be 100% happy and enjoying my life but I know that it won’t happen so yeah..Forget that part~ ugh go away bad thoughts~ And I shall fill it up with yummy and delicious cookies~ So Peaceful~ 😀

But eating that much cookie means gaining LOTS of weight unless you are one of those people who work out a lot or have fast metabolism. Well I’m neither of those so I’m pretty sure I would be FAT if I had all twelve days before Christmas cookies~ This is why I only making them during the weekends and only once every week and I don’t eat alone because that is just sad:( I just love to share things so when I only make them when there are people over or just with my families or I take them to school or for my church youth group ( since we small amount of people).

Well anyway~~ back to cookie~ (clap clap clap)

And our next cookie is..(drum roll)

…Gingerbread Cookies for the Holidays !!! (clap clap clap)

I think these gingerbread cookies are just so adorable when they come in little people shapes:) And they are good too~ It also reminds me of the gingerbread cookie men from Shrek:) (I should see that movie again it was fun).

And the recipe is: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alexandra-guarnaschelli/gingerbread-cookies-for-the-holidays-recipe/index.html

And that’s it for today~ Have fantastic Day Everyone

Dear Pastry: Eleven days before Christmas

Picture of Holiday Biscotti Recipe

(Today is December 14, 2012)

Well I’m suppose to write this each day but I just realize after finishing writing the first one that I might not even have time to write these each every single day. So I decided that I might as well write two or more everyday so I don’t miss these since finals are next week. (big sigh). Anyway enough about my situation~~~ Well I’m spacing out while I’m typing.. so tired.. But there are things that needs to be done fast and this is one of the many other things I just need to speedy up. ( another big sigh)

Okay Okay no more about my life and other stuff. And we shall stick to the main part. Well I don’t know what cookie or cake or whatever sweet thing I would do next but I have an idea since it’s about Christmas and I think any kind of cookies are just great to have for Christmas unless it’s traditional cookie time for your families. So I picked out the one that I just really really wanted to make. (Well if I had the money and the ingredients, I would make them ALL OF IT..) Well that’s not possible right now so it’s one by one.

Today I picked out.. (drum roll please)…

…Holiday Biscotti !!!!

Recipe for this: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/holiday-biscotti-recipe4/index.html

I actually made biscotti once and it was pretty good but not that great. But the others told me it went really well with teas or coffee and that it’s a good dessert while talking with your friends or families and other neighbors. And I agree. This is a simple dessert to eat together and more. And just by sharing is a enjoyable time to make with others ^^

Dear Pastry: Italian Anise cookie with icing

Image

In cooking class at my school, we had an International cookie day and my group was choosing and searching and just trying to find the right piece of a recipe. And finally in the end we ended up with Italian Anise cookie. But I don’t think any of us knew what “Anise” was so we just decided to make it. So today, we had a cookie lab and each group was making their country’s cookie and ours was Italy. And when we were getting ready for the cookie and gathering all the ingredients; we learned that it licorice flavor and we all did not like it. Not knowing what it was stupid. We should have searched what it was and if we liked it or not..But none of us did. Except for some people who really didn’t care. When we were finished we had different kinds of cookies shared among our classmates and most them were good some were not good but it was a fun experience to learn and eat other countries’ cookies. I learned that today that I should find out what some of the things that I don’t know before actually doing it. And it was a new experience and something new to try. If I have liked anise I say it’s a good snack to have and the cookie doesn’t turn brown and the inside is like soft bread and cake-like so it’s really good to have with tea or a coffee and milk. In my opinion, it might be a good Christmas cookie to eat with your families and friends. Since it’s almost December and Christmas will be here anytime soon:)
